Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received comprehensive medical education with a main focus on difficulties involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat difficulties ranging from commonplace afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which give them the experience crucial to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet typically experience.
