Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive healthcare instruction with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage problems ranging from regular disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of complications which the feet routinely experience.
