Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable medical training with a concentration on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to deal with complications ranging from regular conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which furnish them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and defend against countless issues which the feet generally encounter.
