Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.
Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained extensive medical education with a main focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to address conditions ranging from general disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
