Physicians at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained substantial medical education with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat conditions ranging from typical afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.
Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless complications which the feet commonly encounter.
