Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive healthcare training with a main focus on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat conditions extending from conventional conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless problems which the feet normally experience.
