Physicians at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.
At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing health care training with a focus on complications involving the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat problems stretching from regular ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of countless problems which the feet routinely encounter.
