Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs lie inside these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive medical education with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems ranging from normal ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the prior experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
