Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in about a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and various podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable medical training with an emphasis on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to manage concerns ranging from simple afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.
Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet typically encounter.
