Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained encompassing medical training with a focus on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address issues stretching from standard problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet commonly experience.
