Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging medical training with a concentration on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to care for issues extending from commonplace ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which give them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet normally experience.
