Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical training with an importance on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat issues stretching from regular problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against countless troubles which the feet normally encounter.
