Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and actually a number of podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with a concentration on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat problems varying from general disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet usually experience.
