Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and many podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive medical training with an emphasis on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to care for concerns extending from common conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to execute surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet usually encounter.
