Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received considerable health care education with a focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat problems varying from simple afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of problems which the feet generally encounter.
