Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing medical education with a concentration on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to address difficulties extending from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the skill vital to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet typically encounter.
