Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained comprehensive medical training with a focus on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to care for conditions stretching from familiar ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which provide them the experience required to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
