Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care instruction with an emphasis on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to care for difficulties varying from commonplace conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which furnish them the practical experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet typically encounter.
