Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received wide-ranging health care instruction with a concentration on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat issues stretching from basic disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience vital to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
