Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive healthcare training with a concentration on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to care for concerns varying from basic disorders such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience essential to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet generally experience.
