They invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.
