Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive healthcare instruction with a focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to handle concerns ranging from regular problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience required to execute surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against countless problems which the feet frequently encounter.
