Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received considerable health care instruction with an emphasis on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat complications stretching from familiar afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which supply them the prior experience essential to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet usually encounter.
