Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received thorough health care training with a stress on concerns involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to handle complications extending from general conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience vital to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet generally experience.
