Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical training with a focus on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to address concerns ranging from common problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet typically encounter.
