Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive medical training with an emphasis on issues involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat difficulties ranging from common ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the expertise necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet frequently experience.
