Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive health care education with a concentration on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are qualified to treat problems extending from usual disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet normally encounter.
