Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable medical instruction with a concentration on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat complications extending from simple conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the prior experience needed to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet usually experience.
