Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained considerable health care education with a main focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage complications varying from familiar ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet usually encounter.
