Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained significant healthcare education with a main focus on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are taught to manage conditions varying from usual problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which give them the skill required to carry out surgery on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet normally encounter.
