Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained comprehensive medical instruction with a focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat complications ranging from common problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet normally encounter.
