Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained considerable health care training with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to address complications varying from usual afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which supply them the skill necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet routinely encounter.
