After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired comprehensive medical instruction with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to manage problems ranging from conventional disorders like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless troubles which the feet generally experience.
