Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.
At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired thorough healthcare instruction with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat difficulties varying from basic disorders such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against numerous issues which the feet normally encounter.
