Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.
Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive healthcare training with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with difficulties stretching from typical conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet typically experience.
