Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive medical training with a focus on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for conditions extending from familiar problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent a large number of issues which the feet usually encounter.
