Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained comprehensive healthcare education with a stress on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address problems ranging from standard ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the skill necessary to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid countless problems which the feet regularly encounter.
