Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and several podiatry programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical training with a main focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address concerns ranging from regular afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the expertise essential to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet regularly experience.
