Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired substantial healthcare instruction with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to handle complications varying from conventional afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the experience essential to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
