Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address problems varying from standard ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
