Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired comprehensive health care education with a concentration on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to handle problems extending from familiar afflictions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet typically encounter.
