Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive healthcare education with an importance on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat complications extending from typical afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
