Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend approximately ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care training with an importance on complications involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat conditions ranging from simple disorders such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet typically encounter.
