Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive health care instruction with an attention to on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat problems extending from basic ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which furnish them the practical experience vital to perform surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet typically experience.
