Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and actually quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained encompassing medical training with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat difficulties ranging from typical problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent countless problems which the feet regularly experience.
