Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care training with a main focus on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to address issues extending from common problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet typically experience.
