Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained encompassing medical education with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to handle complications extending from regular ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which furnish them the expertise vital to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet usually experience.
