Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality various podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive medical training with a main focus on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are qualified to deal with complications stretching from basic ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet typically experience.
