Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical instruction with a focus on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with concerns ranging from basic ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the prior experience needed to execute surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless conditions which the feet typically encounter.
