Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing healthcare training with an emphasis on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to deal with issues stretching from usual afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
